Can a 2005 Ford Explorer Limited, with a 4.0L V6, and a Class III (7700lb) hitch, pull a 6800 pound camper?
I have a 29' travel trailer that weighs 6,800lbs. My question is: Will my 05 Ford Explorer Limited, 4.0 V6, SUV pull it? I have weight distribution hitch and sway control, coming out of a Class III hitch that posts 7700lbs towing (with Weight Distribution). My concern is the power of the engine... and Does anyone know if this "Class III" tow package includes a transmission cooler? I live in Illinois and nothing TOO big to climb, but there are some good size hills... Any help would be MUCH Appreciated!
depending on your rear end gears, yes...but don't try to win a race. the 4.0L SOHC has 210HP and 245ft/lb torque, enough to get the job done, so with a weight distributing hitch and sway control, yes.
