trailer wiring hookups?
i finally got a hitch receiver for my truck, so I went out and bought a combination 4wire flat and 7 blade connector. the 4wire went on fine, I do not yet have an electric brake controller, so I capped that wire til i get one, but the last remaining wire says to connect to a fused 12V auxilliary power source (fuse panel/battery) I am going to run it off of the battery since my fuse box already has several accessories plugged into it. I am going to pick up an inline fuse holder today at napa, but what fuse goes in there? is the amperage trailer specific?
Use #12 stranded wire and a 10 amp fuse. Secure the wire well along the frame of the truck so it does not rub against anything, and avoid the area around the exhaust system if possible. (6" clearance from exhaust)
I'd pull the wires for the brake controller at the same time.
