Do you Kayak? Maybe you are thinking about starting but you do not know where to begin. Like any sport you need to get yourself and your gear to a place where that becomes a reality. Since you will not be kayaking in your living room, we need to transport your gear to the nearest river or ocean. That is what we are going to talk about today. How can you transport your Kayak and what options are available? You can either transport your kayaks by car or by truck.

You will need some type of Kayak Racks to do this job. I am going to assume you already have a basic rack system i.e. Thule or Yakima towers and crossbars, or a factory-installed rack on your car or SUV, all you need is the Kayak Rack. Thule has Kayak Racks and Yakima has Kayak Racks. Now, let us talk about what kind they have and how much they will cost. There are a couple different types. Some have the kayak sitting flat on your rack; others tilt them on their side. Tilting your kayak on its side will give you added room for other gear.

Thule 997 Goalpost MSRP $189.95 (USD) The Goalpost is designed for pick-up trucks. This adjustable watersport carrier mounts to the trailer hitch and allows you to hold different sized kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards. Requires cab mount Kayak Rack to support other end.
