Wireless not connecting to laptop when I know it has signal (Vista Home Premium)?
When I boot my laptop in my bedroom, Windows tells me that no wireless networks can be found at all. To connect to one, I have to take my laptop into the hall and by doing so, get closer to my router (a BT HomeHub). Once there, I get 4 or 5 bars of signal and can connect to the internet without a hitch. Then, when I take the laptop back to my bedroom, I still have at least 2 bars, usually 3, and will remain connected until I turn the laptop off, or until I put it into 'sleep' mode, and then 'wake it up again', so to speak, where I won't be able to get a signal again.
*So why can't I connect to the network from my bedroom in the first place when I know full well that the signal stretches that far? *
I'm using Vista's own wireless software and an internal Atheros w/less adapter. I've set my network to connect automatically as well, which it does, but only when I move into the hall and get five bars.

You need a better signal to connect than you do to stay connected.
Make sure that the antenna on your hub is oriented so that when the laptop is in your bedroom it's looking at a rod, not at the tip of the antenna, or looking at it from an angle. (The antenna works best at right angles to its axis.)
If it's still a problem, you may want to mount a reflector on the antenna. It can increase coverage to you at the expense of coverage in other directions. http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template/
